HOW DO THE COURSES WORK?
DIFFERENT PROFILES OF INDIVIDUAL AND GROUPE CLASSES
This is a general course for all who want to learn German for everyday life. We work with a book suitable for your level and use a variety of additional materials regarding your individual interests.
We also watch videos from Basel, produced especially for my classes. We work on vocabulary and grammar based on the content of the videos and simulate similar dialogues, which can be practiced in live situations.
You have learned German before but do not feel very sure about your grammar? We work with grammar books and review the most important topics in a very small group of 3 students.
In this course we work with special books preparing you for the exams A1/ A2/ B1/ B2 competence specified by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). We practice all four parts of the exam: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Some of you have been lived in Basel for many years. Maybe you are considering applying for Swiss nationality.
For the Swiss passport you need to pass a German exam (writing A2.1, reading A2.2, speaking B1). I can help you to prepare for it. We work with a special book, practicing all what you need: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Consolidate your communication skills for the workplace. We focus on practical written and spoken language use, with topics such as making official appointments, understanding contracts and writing formal e-mails and letters. We use special books and video examples and simulate similar situations. The goal is to become more confident at work and improve your professional performance.
We talk about the most important facts about Swiss history, politics and culture, and analyse the current political events (e.g. initiatives), using a special book as well as short videos, quiz games, newspapers, radio broadcasts etc. This course should help to better understand Switzerland and to feel more integrated. It is a great opportunity to complement and deepen (individually or in
a very small group of 2–3 students) the courses offered by the civil community Basel-Stadt.
In this course we talk in a small group about the contemporary trends in Swiss art, architecture, dance, design, photography etc. Since I am not only a German teacher but also an art historian with a journalistic background, I can give you an insider's look at different Basel's institutions. You can get to know musicians, photographers, dancers and artists, who work in Basel and are an important part of this vibrant city’s cultural landscape. We use different teaching materials (short videos, audio books, art magazines etc.) and talk with invited experts.
I am more than happy to work with mums coming to my classes together with their babies (up to 6 months of age). Learning German and getting to know the local culture at the same time is a fantastic way to enjoy your maternity leave!
We work with videos, books, newspapers and other teaching materials.
